The Public Accounts Committee has said it intends to investigate why the State did not get value for money in a number of investments following the publication of a report by the spending watchdog.

The report by the Comptroller and Auditor General found that Exchequer spending increased by 7.5% last year to €59.4bn, despite a fall in tax receipts.
