The Environment Minister is welcoming a move to allow Dublin City Councillors to see a copy of the contract between the Council, Covanta and the developer of the controversial Poolbeg Incinerator.

City Manager John Tierney has agreed to provide all councillors with an edited version of the contract.

Minister for the Environment John Gormely has already called for the contract to be published in full.

Speaking earlier today he said there has to be transparency in the process.

"I'm quite happy that a version of the contract is being made available," Minister Gormley said.

"I think we need… openness and transparency in this matter so that people can make up their own minds."
