Man rescued after boat catches fire

A lone sailor has been rescued after his motor cruiser went up in flames off the east Cork coast.

The man had just enough time to send out a mayday signal before he abandoned his sinking ship nine miles from Ballycotton Lighthouse.

He was recovered by a fishing boat and brought to safety in Youghal, where he has been treated for shock.
