Harney confident of EU backing for Anglo plan

Health Minister Mary Harney says the Government is confident the EU will give its backing to the plan announced this week to wind down Anglo Irish Bank.

That is despite reports today that the European Commission has raised questions about some elements of the proposal to split Anglo into two banks - one to be wound down or sold off over a number of years.
