Council extends Poolbeg contract

Dublin City Council has extended the contract for the Poolbeg incinerator until next May to allow for a review.

The contract was due to expire on Sunday, providing a window to extend, terminate or renegotiate.

The City Manager told councillors at last night's meeting, he is also intending to publish the contract details within days, once the firm behind the venture gives the go-ahead.

At last night's meeting of Dublin City Council manager, John Tierney, said he was in discussions with the company behind the project to get permission for the publication.

Labour Councillor Kevin Humphreys is opposed to the development, and says many of his colleagues feel the same.
