Dublin City Council extend Poolbeg contract until May 2011

The contract for the Poolbeg incinerator has been extended at this evening's meeting of Dublin City Council.

John Tierney, the city manager, said it may even be extended again, past the new May 2011 date.

The contract, the details of which have not been published, was due to expire yesterday.

It’s estimated that €120m has already been spent on the controversial incinerator project.

The Minister for the Environment, John Gormley, has called on Dublin City Council to publish the contents of the contract.
