McManus confirms political retirement

Labour TD Liz McManus has confirmed she is quitting politics at the next General Election.

The 63-year-old has been a TD for Wicklow since 1992 when she was elected for Democratic Left.

Ms McManus said she will continue to support Eamon Gilmore as leader of the party.

She reiterated the importance of building a new vibrant Labour Party which offers younger candidates to the electorate at the next General Election.
