There is mounting speculation that the Labour TD Liz McManus will today announce she is quitting politics at the next General Election.

The 63-year-old has been a TD for Wicklow since 1992 when she was elected for Democratic Left.

She was deputy leader of Labour under Pat Rabbitte from 2002 to 2007.

She has remained tight-lipped about her intentions as speculation intensified over the past 24 hours.
