Fianna Fáil backbencher welcomes Anglo 'wind-down' reports
A Fianna Fáil backbencher has welcomed reports that Green Party ministers want a "quicker wind-down" of Anglo Irish Bank.
Laois-Offaly TD Sean Fleming said Anglo should close its doors for good because “nothing good will ever come out of it”.
A speedy wind-down would mark a change in party policy and a move away from the current proposals on the table for the bank: a split into a good and bad bank, or a wind-down over a longer time period.
Fleming said, as far as he understood it, discussions on a wind-down were underway. "…It’s the mechanism of how you do it that is probably being worked on at the moment," he said.
