The UN General Assembly is to hold an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss the Pakistan flooding crisis.

The meeting is aimed at ensuring the most coordinated response possible to the disaster which has so far left 20 million people homeless.

Ireland's Minister for Overseas Aid Peter Power will attend the New York meeting and address the group on behalf of the Government.

So far, €810,000 in government funding has been provided for the Concern and Trocaire operations in Pakistan, while €150,000 is being provided to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Ireland has also sent 100 tents to the International Organisation for Migration in Pakistan.
