CIF figures increase fears for construction sector
Fresh fears have been sparked over the future of the construction sector.
According to the bi-monthy barometre from the Construction Industry Federation, just €14m worth of building contracts were awarded in June.
That is the second lowest figure over the past 18 months.
The group is warning that if the trend continues at its current rate, the Government won't meet its commitments for next year under the capital investment programme.
CIF spokesperson Martin Whelan said if that happens, jobs in the industry "will suffer".
