A 27-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with dangerous driving causing the death of two teenagers who were passengers in the car he was driving.

A 27-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with dangerous driving causing the death of two teenagers who were passengers in the car he was driving.

James Simms of St. Luke's Avenue, Wellington Road in Cork appeared before Cork District Court today.

He was charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of CJ Dolan and Derry O’Callaghan in Knocknaheeny in Cork on May 14 last.

His solicitor said Mr Simms car had been rammed by another vehicle and that he was a victim in the case, having suffered a broken back in the collision.

However, Judge Tim Lucey said he believed that gardai had genuine grounds for objecting to bail and he remanded Mr Simms in custody for a week.
