Public meeting ahead of Murphy release
A public meeting is to be held in Co Wicklow to coincide with the release of a convicted rapist.
Larry Murphy will walk free from jail on Thursday after serving 10 years of a 15-year sentence for the brutal rape of a Carlow businesswoman.
The Baltinglass native was also questioned but never faced any charges in relation to the disappearance of a number of other women in the Kildare / Wicklow area.
The meeting to discuss the concerns of west Wickow residetns is being organised by Sinn Féin and will be held Thursday evening in Grangecon.
Local Sinn Féin representative Gerry O'Neill said the main focus of the meeting is to alleviate the concerns of residents, especially given the media attention the release of Murphy has generated.
