Body of murdered Irishman returns home

The body of an Irishman murdered in Spain last week has arrived back in the country.

The body of an Irishman murdered in Spain last week has arrived back in Dublin this evening.

John 'Jock' O'Neill, a father of two young children, was shot dead after trying to diffuse a row outside a bar in Benalmadena on the Costa Del Sol in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.

He had been socialising with a group of friends attending a wedding in the Spanish resort when another customer in the bar tried to start a row with the group.

Mr O' Neill was among those who had attempted to quell the disagreement.

The gunman fled the scene and a Spanish Judge has issued a European arrest warrant for the 35-year-old Englishman believed to behind the attack.

Now after numerous delays John O'Neill is finally home with his distraught family. Arrangements are being made to lay him to rest early next week.
