Ireland prepares Corps to help in Pakistan floods

Ireland's Rapid Response Corps has been put on standby in case they are needed in the Pakistan flood relief effort.

Ireland's Rapid Response Corps has been put on standby in case they are needed in the Pakistan flood relief effort.

Minister of State for Overseas Development Peter Power has said Ireland is already responding to the needs of the affected people through the UN Central Emergency Response Fund.

Up to $10m from that fund has been allocated to help the Pakistan relief effort so far.

The Rapid Response Corps is made up of 130 volunteers with specialised skills like engineering and public health.
