IMC to issue report on shooting of high-profile loyalist

The Independent Monitoring Commission is to issue a report on the death of leading loyalist Bobby Moffatt, it was announced today.

He was shot in the head in front of shoppers on Belfast's Shankill Road in May of this year.

Mr Moffat was known to have strong links to the UVF and was well known in loyalist paramilitary circles.

In a statement, the IMC says it has been investigating the murder of Moffat and a report will be issued in ahead of their next full report on paramilitary activity, due in late October.

Following his shooting the leader of the Progressive Unionist Party Dawn Purvis resigned her position.

The PUP is linked to the paramilitary group the UVF, who it is believed shot Mr Moffat in a dispute.
