MBNA set to cut jobs

Credit card company MBNA, which has a base in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, is set to make several workers redundant, it has emerged today.

In a statement this afternoon, a spokesperson says this may mean a "modest" reduction in the number employed by MBNA.

However, the spokesperson said MBNA, like all businesses, regularly reviews its structures to ensure they are right for its customers and business priorities.

Up to 1,000 people are currently employed by the company at its base in Carrick-on -Shannon.
