North's abuse survivors call for public inquiry

Survivors of institutional child abuse in the North are demanding equal treatment to victims in the Republic.

A group is heading to Stormont later to meet the First and Deputy First Ministers Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness.

The group is calling for a public inquiry, similar to that which led to the Ryan Report's publication in November last year.

Executive director of the One in Four group Maeve Lewis said victims in the North deserve the same as those in the Republic.

She said: "Their truth needs to be told just as much as the truths of the survivors of abuse in the Republic."
