A 16-year-old male remains in Garda custody this evening in connection with a fatal shooting in Dublin city earlier this week.

Stephen Byrne, 32, was shot a number of times near his home on Sheriff Street on Tuesday evening.

The teenager was arrested in the North Inner City at 2pm this afternoon.

He is being held at Store Street Garda Station under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act - and can be detained for up to 72 hours.

A 15-year-old boy, arrested in connection with the shooting, has been released without charge, while a man in his 20s has also been released, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
