Tributes paid to horror crash victim at third funeral

A third funeral has taken place in at St Mura's church in Fahan, Donegal, following Sunday's devastating crash which killed eight men.

Patrick ‘PJ’ McLaughlin, 21, is being laid to rest in Fahan.

Earlier at Mark McLaughlin's funeral, also in Fahan, father Neil McGoldrick said no words could describe the devastation being felt by family and friends of those who died.

Fr McGoldrick paid tribute to PJ, saying that the football-loving young man was meticulous at his work but a stylish dresser at play.

A gentleman, he once offered a woman the loan of his boots after she complained of the pain of walking on high heels.

The priest recalled the devastating impact on the family.

“It was shocking and when it is your own family, your own child, it is so different,” he said.

“We all think we understand death until it comes to our own and suddenly it is an experience we knew nothing about until then, the agony and the pain of it but to hear that it is your own brother or child is even more devastating, surely.”
