Rescue operation underway 150 miles off Kerry

A rescue operation is underway off the Kerry coast.

A 25-year-old man on board a vessel called "The Endurance" is suffering from severe stomach pain and needs medical attention.

The Valencia coastguard is co-ordinating the effort and the Shannon helicopter is retrieving the man, who is 150 miles from land.

He is expected to arrive at Kerry General Hospital by 9pm this evening, where he will be treated for his illness.
