Finn to lead banking inquiry
The Government has announced that a former senior official at the Finnish Ministry of Finance has agreed to lead the inquiry into the banks.
Peter Nyberg will look at failures in governance and risk management in the covered institutions from 2003 until Anglo was nationalised in January last year.
Addressing the Dáil this afternoon, Finance Minister Brian Lenihan insisted the inquiry would not be allowed hinder in any way any criminal investigations at the banks.
He also defended not allowing the Commission of Investigation look at Government policies, saying the people are more concerned about the banks themselves.
