Longford/Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Mary O'Rourke says the party will lose the next General Election if they stay on 24% in the polls.

Speaking ahead of today's Parliamentary Party meeting, the former Deputy Leader says backbenchers have been relentless in their attacks on Brian Cowen.

As regards a possible challenger to the leadership, Deputy O'Rourke says nobody in the party would make such a move against Mr Cowen.

She has told Midlands 103 news that the attacks on the leadership are not coming from the media, but her own party colleagues.
