The funeral will take place in Co Kildare later today of the former Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Dermot Earley who died earlier this week.
Large crowds are expected and gardaí are advising people that traffic restrictions will be in place.
Earley, who was 62, died on Wednesday after being ill for several months.
The GAA All Star winner will be buried with full military honours in Co Kildare today.
Funeral mass will take place at 11am this morning at St Conleth's Church in Newbrige.
He will be laid to rest afterwards at St Conleth's Graveyard on the Athgarvan Road in Newbridge.
He is survived by his mother Kitty, his wife Mary and their six children David, Dermot, Conor, Paula, Ann-Marie and Noelle and his grandson Oisín.
Gardaí are warning that traffic will be heavy in the area and a number of diversions will be in place.
