A brain specialist has told the murder trial of a 19-year-old man and a mother of three, that a man they admitted to kicking in the head, died as a result of a severe head injury.

Darren McKeown's relatives broke down in court as neuro-pathologist Dr Francesca Brett told the jury that the 29-year-old's brain was severely bruised and swollen. His two eyes were also swollen, there were lacerations on his face, head and lips and his jaw was broken.
