Goods in North set to become more expensive

Cross-border shopping may not prove as economical from the start of next year, after the UK VAT rate was hiked in today's UK Budget.

New British Chancellor George Osborne made the announcement that from next January, the new rate will be 20%, up from the current 17.5%.
