The Director of Public Prosecutions James Hamilton has confirmed plans to explain to victims of rape and sexual assault why prosecutions are not sought in their cases.

Mr Hamilton has also told a conference on victims and law in Cork that there is still "considerable room for improvement" in the way the legal system deals with and treats victims of crime.
