More than 90% of Irish beaches comply to standards
Up to 91% of Ireland's beaches comply with the EU standard.
However, the Environmental Protection Agency has said it has concerns over the standards in some beaches across the country because of inadequate sewage infrastructure.
Nine of our 131 beaches and lake shores failed to meet minimum clean water standards last year - showing no improvement in numbers since the previous year.
In Galway, Clifden has again made the failure list and in Westmeath, Lilliput at Lough Ennel also failed to meet minimum standards again.
