Union votes to accept recruitment of additional passport office staff

CPSU Members at the Passport Office have voted to accept the recruitment of 50 additional temporary staff for the peak summer months.

The proposals, which were tabled by Kieran Mulvey at the Labour Relations Commission, will also see people with immediate travel needs prioritised.

Some 61,000 passports are currently still waiting to be processed with the average processing time rising from 10 to 25 working days.

CPSU and the Department of Foreign Affairs have welcomed the agreement, and say they'll make no further public comment.
