Post mortem on Kerry lake body

A post mortem is being carried out today on the body of a woman found in a Kerry lake.

Mairead Kennedy, who was in her 60s and from Adare, Co Limerick, was swimming in the Middle Lake in Killarney yesterday when she is believed to have got into trouble.

A boatman found her body in the water near the Torc Boathouse at Muckross House at around 5pm yesterday evening.

Killarney gardaí say the woman was an active swimmer and the cause of her death won't be known until the post mortem is completed.
