Ombudsman: Number of complaints down from last year

The Financial Ombudsman William Prasifka has said no complaints have been made to his office arising out of the ash crisis so far.

Mr Prasifka also said very few complaints have been received following flooding in Cork and other parts of the country at the beginning of the year.

Overall, the number of complaints received so far this year is down on the same period in 2009.

But Mr Prasifka is warning there is a significant backlog of unresolved complaints because his office can't keep up with demand.
