Boy who threatened woman's family remanded on bail
A 14-year-old boy has been remanded on continuing bail pending sentence for threatening to burn down a woman's home after she complained that youths from a Health Service Executive care centre attacked her son.
The boy, who is in care, pleaded guilty at the Children's Court to making a threat to cause criminal damage to the woman's home in Dublin, on February 7 last year.
Earlier, the court had heard that the woman's son had been assaulted and threatened by youths living in a residential care unit.
She went to complain to the social care manager from the unit and, while there, the then 13-year-old boy “approached and threatened to burn down her house and get her family”.
Judge Heather Perrin today heard that the boy is residing in a children's unit centre outside of Dublin and had refused to come to court.
Judge Perrin adjourned the case for mention to next month. A pre-sentence probation report has also been sought.
