Two arrested in connection with killing of gangland boss

Two men were being questioned today over the killing of a gangland crime boss in a packed pub.

Eamon Dunne was gunned down in front of terrified customers after two masked men entered the Faussagh House bar in the north Dublin suburb of Cabra last month.

He was shot six times in the head and body with bullets from an automatic pistol before the attackers fled the scene in a getaway car with two other men.

Gardai have arrested two men, both in their 20s, in connection with the April 23 shooting.

They are being quizzed at Whitehall and Mountjoy Garda Stations, where they can be held for up to three days under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

It is understood that Dunne’s 17-year-old daughter was present and witnessed the killing.

Dunne, 34, of Dunsoghly Drive in Finglas, was regarded as a major gangland player and detectives believe there could be various motives for the killing.
