IFA: Risk from Brazilian beef 'unacceptable'

The Irish Farmers Association has said Irish consumers are being exposed to unacceptable and unnecessary risk from Brazlian beef.

The body is calling for a full ban on importing Brazilian beef into the EU after the US identified a third case of beef from the South American country had failed to meet their food safety standards.

The IFA said the EU's testing methods are not as rigorous as those in the US, putting consumers here at risk.

President John Bryan wants a full ban on the beef.
