Man pleads guilty to assaulting woman in his home

A 48-year-old Waterford Man has pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to assaulting a woman in his home, causing her harm.

Fintan Murphy pleaded guilty to the offence against Margaret Murphy on October 19 2008 at Ardmore Park, Ballybeg in Waterford.

Murphy, with an address at Waterford Regional Hospital, also pleaded guilty to attempting to cause serious harm to Ms Murphy on the same occasion.

The prosecution then entered a nolle prosequi on a count of attempting to murder Ms Murphy, meaning the State will not proceed with this charge.

Murphy will be sentenced in July.
