Dramatic fall in work and welfare applications from immigrants
New figures from the Department of Social Welfare show a dramatic fall in the number of immigrants registering to work and/or applying for welfare services.
The first three months of 2010 saw a 40% fall in the number of Polish nationals issued with PPS numbers and a fall of 25% for British people.
The number of Brazilians and Latvians given PPS numbers also fell.
