Minister to visit areas hit by flooding

Minister for the Office of Public Works Martin Manseragh will visit areas in Galway and Mayo today to see how the communities are coping in the aftermath of the floods.

Manseragh has agreed to make the trip after complaints were made by victims that insurance companies were failing to honour policies.

Last winter, thousands were forced from their homes after torrential rain caused severe flooding.

Many areas were submerged for weeks, and the cost for repairs ran into the hundreds of millions of euros.
