Elderly man killed in workplace accident

A man in his 60s has died in a work-related accident in Co Clare today.

The incident occurred at around 8am this morning at Clonlara in the east of the county. The man is understood to have been working with a track-digger when he struck.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garda crime scene investigation officers have carried out a technical examination of the scene while inspectors from the Health and Safety Authority are also on their way to the area.
