Lack of stem cell research 'costing opportunities'

The absence of laws on stem cell research is costing Ireland valuable research opportunities, according to a new policy document published today.

The Irish Stem Cell Foundation says the failure to legislate in this area also means there is no legal block to human cloning.

Director Dr Stephen O'Sullivan says the biggest loss however is for patients, who are being left in the dark about stem cell treatments open to them.
