All FG and Labour former ministers give up pensions

All Fine Gael former ministers who are still Oireachtas members have rescinded their pension payments.
Earlier today all former Labour party ministers relinquished their pensions while drawing Oireachtas salaries.
Former Labour leader Ruairi Quinn, Deputy Emmet Stagg and Waterford TD Brian O'Shea confirmed today they will contact Finance Minister Brian Lenihan to make the arrangements.
Around a dozen Oireachtas members, including former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, continue to receive the payments.
Meawnhile Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said he has received legal advice refuting the Government's position that there is a constitutional impediment to stopping the double payments to politicians.
