Garda Ombudsman to probe man's death while in custody

The Garda Ombudsman Commission has opened an investigation into the death of a 39-year-old man while in Garda custody yesterday afternoon.

John Nevin was taken into custody by gardaí at his home in Templemore, Co Tipperary.

He later became unwell at Templemore garda station and was taken by ambulance to Nenagh Hospital where he was pronounced dead yesterday evening.

The matter was referred to Ombudsman Commission for investigation.
