Irish airspace is closing today as ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland spread across northern Europe, grounding flights and disrupting thousands of passengers.

The Dublin Airport Authority has said 450 flights in and out of Ireland have been cancelled today, affecting almost 60,000 people.
