Harney: Tallaght x-ray review expected at end of May

The Health Minister Mary Harney has said a review of x-rays at Tallaght Hospital will be completed by the end of May.

Ms Harney said the three consultants involved are working seven days a week in some cases, in order to get through the backlog.

The HSE launched an investigation in March after it emerged that 58,000 x-rays failed to be reviewed by a consultant radiologist at Tallaght Hospital in line with standard practice.

One patient died and another is receiving treatment for cancer at the moment.
