Man in court on Derry murder bid charge

A 41-year-old man will appear in court today charged with attempting to murder a man in the North.

Damian Fleming was attacked near his home in Coleraine, Co Derry, last May. His friend, Catholic father-of-four Kevin McDaid, was killed.

Community worker Mr McDaid, 49, was targeted by the suspected loyalists after a row over republican flags in the Heights area of the town.

The suspect will appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court this morning.
