Dublin Airport expecting more than 200k people

More than 200,000 people are expected to travel through Dublin Airport over this Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Around 1,700 flights are set to arrive and depart between today and Monday, including 40 charters for those seeking some early spring sunshine.

In total 212,000 passangers are expected to travel through the capital's airport this weekend, but while that might sound impressive it actually represents a 15% fall off in business.

Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Las Palmas are the most popular destinations for people in search of some heat after one of the coldest Marches for more than a decade.

Airport staff are advising all travellers to check security regulations about baggage and liquids and give themselves plenty of time to reach their departure gate.

Last year around 250,000 passengers travelled through the airport over the Easter break - that was 30,000 fewer than in 2008.
