A controlled explosion has been carried out on an improvised device found outside a Head Shop in Donegal.

A controlled explosion has been carried out on an improvised device found outside a Head Shop in Donegal.

The device was discovered near the shop on Pearse Road in Letterkenny at around 1am this morning.

An army bomb disposal team arrived on the scene just before 5am and a controlled explosion was carried out.

The area was declared safe at 6.20am and the road was re-opened.
