Bishop of Derry implicated in abuse cover-up
Further claims have been made in the child sex abuse scandal currently rocking the Catholic Church.
The Bishop of Derry Seamus Hegarty has been accused of being involved in a compensation deal to cover up child sex abuse.
This morning's Belfast Telegraph reports that Bishop Hegarty was one of three churchmen named as defendants in an out-of-court settlement after an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused over a 10-year period from 1979.
The Church paid £12,000 to the alleged victim, subject to a confidentiality clause.
