The average first-time buyer will be in negative equity for the next 10 years, according to a new report.

The report from Dr David Duffy of the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), outlined in today's Irish Independent, estimates that the average household in negative equity owes €38,000 more than the home is worth.
