Report: Govt to downgrade coastguard operations

It has been reported that search and rescue operations in the Southeast of the country are being downgraded.

It is believed the search and rescue helicopter base in Waterford could be reduced to a 12-hour, daylight-only service while Dublin, Shannon and Sligo will continue to have 24-hour cover.
