Thousands of commuters face travel delays today after a major signalling fault on a rail line.

Irish Rail said all services on a number of main routes are suspended until further notice.

They include the northern commuter line, between Dublin and Belfast, the Dublin to Sligo line and Dart services to and from Malahide.

Dublin Bus are accepting rail tickets in North Dublin areas affected.

Irish Rail said it was working to rectify the fault as quickly as possible and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
